New Plugin: Modelling

Spline Caster gives you the power to quickly create splines projected onto the surface of any geometry in the scene. It includes two different draw modes: two-click spline placement and freehand draw with lazy mouse. Features include realtime previewing as you draw, 2-click cable creation with auto-calculated curve, user customization for spline curviness, freehand draw splines on geometry with lazy mouse support.

Verge3D is available for Max 20217 to 2023 and costs $4.

Changes for v1.01.12 are:
- Fixes an issue with changing interpolation for section and path
- Fixes some minor issues with rendering previews

Plugin Update: Import / Export

Changes for v4.0 include:
- User applications, settings and stock demos are now separated from the software installation
- You can now choose between 'Light' or 'Dark' themes
- The Asset Store can now filter content by demos, tutorials, and libraries
- You are no longer limited to installing to 'Program Files' on Windows
- Texture compression is now performed when you export a scene (UASTC and ETC1S)
- All HDR images are now compressed with LZMA
- The print performance info puzzle now outputs info about texture compression
- Adds an app called Light Probe to demonstrate both planar and cubemap reflection probes
- Adds a demo called Transparency to show off all types of transparency supported by the engine
- Adds a demo called Gltf Compat using an advanced PBR material compatible with glTF 2.0 standard
- Adds an animation timeline to the Industrial Robot demo
- A new demo called Canvas Texture creates pictures on the fly using the HTML Canvas API
- To simplify updates, all JavaScript modules are now copied to the application folder by default
- The UI for the App Manager settings has been redesigned and now reside in tabs
- Verge3D is now synced with version r137 of Three.js, the underlying WebGL library
- The export to usdz puzzle now uses the USDZExporter class from the latest Three.js library
- Upgrades the Puzzles editor by syncing with the latest version of Google Blockly framework
- Updates the web-to-desktop converter to use the latest version 19.0.4 of Electron.js
- The glTF format has been refactored to make files more conformant with the glTF specification
- glTF-compatible materials no longer contain S8S extensions
- Removes legacy modules from the engine, namely Internet Explorer compatibility and legacy VR
- Browsers must now support WebAssembly as it is required for physics and some other features
- Adds support for Max 2023 and drops official support for Max 2019
- Adds full support for the new glTF Material in Max 2023
- Animation of morph targets is now supported

Plugin Update: Modelling

Changes for v5.2.3 are:
- Adds new expression attributes: XSectionAdjustedLength / YSectionAdjustedLength
- Fixes the behaviour of the Y Sequence operator when using multiple X Splines
- Fixes Conditional->Line/Curve from not working well
- Fixes support of non-geometric objects in nested Generators for some renderers

- Fixes some issues with the latest versions of Max
- When 3D snapping, Max now shows a visual confirmation of the selected vertex or grid point
- The UI alignment of the proprieties of the ATiles object are now fixed

Plugin Update: Particles / Animation

Changes for v5.00.00 are:
- Adds new 'Size Variation' and 'Stringy' options for the Foam Pattern shapes
- Multithreads the routine where moving obstacles push the FLIP particles
- Adds a 'Burn Smoke RGB' color option for coloring the smoke created by fuel burning
- You can now pick Active Bodies as emitters in Sources or as attractors in Body Force
- Active Bodies are now usable as 'Distance To' fields, as Birth Volumes and Render Cutters
- Adds a new Thruster node for Active Bodies to propel an active body in a certain direction
- Adds a new Axis Constraint node for Active Bodies to block movement of the active body
- Adds a new option to the Active Body Solver to use the Simulator's jammed walls as obstacles
- Adds an 'Affect by Foam' option to the Active Body Solver
- Adds a new separate Voxel Shader node for shading both fire/smoke and meshes from loaded data
- Adds an option to flatten particles near the Liquid Simulator's borders in Ocean Mesh mode
- Adds a fast 'Color From RGB Channel' option to color particles based on Phoenix's RGB channel
- Adds PRT cache import straight into the Simulator and Standalone Preview
- Adds a 'phoenixfd.exe' command-line executable to simulate .simscene files exported from Max
- Adds a Phoenix FD menu option to Export, Simulate and launch the Standalone Preview application
- Adds a Phoenix Node Viewer application for exploring the node graph of .simscene files
- Adds a standalone Mesh Preview, including wireframe mode, customizable via the command line
- Adds a standalone Viscosity Voxel Preview
- Smoke opacity modulated or replaced by textures will now show in the viewport GPU Preview
- You can now reduce or increase grid resolution with the new cache_converter tool
- Adds a simulation Restore button in the Phoenix toolbar
- Adds new 'Jet Engine' and 'Stormy Sea' quick setup toolbar presets
- Adds new 'Ice Cubes' and 'Speedboat' quick setup toolbar presets
- Adds support for Max 2023
- Adds Windows 11 support for NUMA machines and drops support for Windows Vista
- Adds tooltips for many of the Simulator's rollouts

Plugin Update: Modelling

- Adds copy and paste buttons for an easy transfer of UV mapping
- While the Draw button is pressed, the Create button is now grayed out
- You can now use parameters to edit cards with multiple splines as selection
