Plugin Update: Utilities

Changes for v1.34.00 are:
- Adds support for RGB Primaries in VRay Bitmap and VRay Color
- Adds support for the following maps: Color Map, Corona Color Correct, Arnold Color Correct
- UI now auto hides / unhides the setting groups, based on if the map exists in the scene / MatEd
- UI now auto increases window height if needed for setting groups

Gamma Organizer is available for Max 2014 to 2022 and costs $6. A demo version is available here.


New Plugin: Modelling

Morphramer is a commercial MAXScript that creates morph targets from a timeline animation. It supports the Apple ARKit and 3D WebGL engines.

Morphramer is available for Max 2019 to 2022 and costs €5.99.


Plugin Update: Import / Export

Changes for v6.0 include:
- Adds support for Cinema4D R25
- Adds support for Corona
- Adds support for Octane
- Adds support for Redshift

MaxToC4D is available for Max 2015 to 2022 and costs $29.


New Plugin: Animation

Rolling Ball is a commercial MAXScript that allows the automatic rotation of a ball in any direction and on any surface.

Rolling Ball is available for Max 2016 to 2022 and costs $1.


New Plugin: Bitmap I/O

This plugin adds support for the open source QOI (Quite OK Image) format, which features fast, lossless image compression.


New Plugin: Renderers

This renderer lets you render any 3D scene's wireframe to a scalable vector drawing in SVG format. It is perfect for sharp, high quality portfolio prints, or animations for the web.

SVG Wire Renderer is available for Max 2018 to 2022 and costs $9. A demo version is available here.


New Plugin: Modelling

This commercial MAXScript allows you to create a global snow effect for the whole scene. You can cover selected objects with snow in a few clicks. You can also change the amount of snow and the bump / displacement size. SnowEffect was tested with V-Ray, but it will be adapted to other render engines soon.

SnowEffect is available for Max 2011 to 2022 and costs $19.


Plugin Update: Particles

Changes for v0.16133 beta are:
- Adds a cross section mode to the tySlice modifier
- Adds a temporal relax mode to the tyRelax modifier, for smoothing meshes over time
- Adds many new options to the tyMeshToSplines modifier to weld and optimize the result
- Adds an option to enable render-only modifiers for export in the Export Particles operator
- Adds a 'Split Elements' option to the Birth Voxels operator
- Adds custom vector access to the Export Particles object export MAXScript rollout
- Adds rotation channel options to the Export Particles Alembic point cloud mode
- Adds channel name options to the Export Particles Alembic point cloud mode
- The Custom Properties operator can now set/get simulation/export group values
- Adds a 'branch from parent if parent deleted' option to the Branch operator
- The Branch operator now considers particle velocity when calculating spacing threshold
- Adds a new linear array mode to the Array operator
- Adds clustering options to the Fuse operator
- Adds a temporal conform mode to the tyConform modifier
- Adds an 'open edges outwards' mode to the tyPush modifier
- Adds splay settings to the Branch operator for even, incremental spreading of child particles
- Adds a 'towards/away target' mode to the Spin operator
- Adds a frame mode to the tyMesher timing settings, allowing you to retime input geometry
- The interpolation value in the Modify Binds operator is now time step independent
- Fixes a bug where issues could occur if all nodes in a tyCollection were deleted from the scene
- Re-structures the way tySplines and Spline Path operators work
- Fixes a tyConvexHull validity issue causing it to recompute when object transform changes
- Fixes Surface Force operator issue where motion inheritance mode wouldn't always work
- Fixes an issue where convex hull operations retained isolated vertices of the underlying mesh
- Time Test now exports data to custom float in frames, not ticks
- Fixes time sampling issues in Alembic point cloud export
- Secondary Alembic point cloud properties promoted to '.geom' child, from '.arbGeomParams'
- Fixes a Collision operator issue where some particles wouldn't undergo friction
- Fixes an issue where the Property Collect operator was ignoring filters/timings
- Fixes an issue where the Property Test 'distance to target' always returned true
- Fixes tyParticleSkin modifier auto-updating if the particle system is set to manual reset mode
- System notifications are now less intrusive, meaning less unnecessary stack/pipeline updates
- Fixes a tySplineMesher issue where extrude mode with capping enabled would move all knots to z=0
- Optimizes the tySplines object to prevent huge slowdowns during the cache clearing process
- Fixes a tyCache settings issue with 'prefer verlet velocities'
- tyFlow object CCCS settings moved to their own rollout, from the Particle Bind Solver rollout
- tyConform 'vert/face/hybrid' modes have been consolidated into 'surface' mode
- Fixes an issue where the Subdivide modifier could cause Max to stop responding in weird ways

- Python 3.7.12 has now replaced Python 2 as the default for Deadline applications
- Updates the Repository installer to remove support for versions of Ubuntu older than 18.04
- Updates the version of MongoDB the installer downloads to properly support Ubuntu 18.04
- Fixes Deadline Workers running on AWS Portal from failing to transfer compressed jobs reports
- Adds the ability to find the root home directory for Linux/OSX without using $USER
- Exporting Permission Groups Settings now includes Script Features
- Adds a '-subnetTemplate' parameter to the 'runawsportaltemplate' Deadline Command
- Fixes a compatibility issue with API requests from the Web Service and Python API clients
- Removes option to autostart a worker from the client installer if installing RCS or Web Service
- Adds a new SubmitMultipleJobsV2 Deadline Command for simultaneous submission of multiple jobs
- Fixes a UI bug in the Monitor's Change Repository dialog
- All render plugins and event plugins now use Python 3.7.12 by default
- The Python version is now logged in the job output
- Adds support for Adobe Media Encoder 2019 and 2020
- Adds support for Cinema 4D R25
- Fixes a syntax error in the Python script running in Nuke 13

New Plugin: Utilities

Render Nodes Manager is a network tool which allows you to remotely start / restart / stop DR (VRaySpawner, Corona DrServer, Octane Daemon) on selected servers / nodes. It helps to solve typical problems that occur when you cancel a distributed rendering and the render nodes don't pick up for some time. It can also monitor the status of the nodes: on/off, CPU, memory usage and DR statuses (if they are running or not). This new version now works with RNM Server (a small server program that runs on each of the nodes) or classic Remote Desktop.

Render Node Manager is available for Max 2017 to 2022 and costs $9 for 6 nodes. A demo version is available here.

New Plugin: Modelling

This is a commercial MAXScript for easily and quickly creating a variety of arrow splines in Max. Users can further customize the shape with the parameters exposed in the rollout.

Spline Arrow is available for Max 2016 to 2022 and costs $4.


Site News: Happy New Year!

I just wanted to wish a happy new year to all of the visitors that still come to the site. All the best for 2022!

I hope that this year I can invest a bit more time here. Last year was extremely quiet here due to a number of personal reasons, which basically pushed this website to the back of the queue of things to do. I remain optimistic that I can get it going again, let's wait and see...
