Plugin Update: Renderers

Changes for v2.5.52 are:
- Adds support in Max for the 'State' node
- Exposes proxy node's 'Material Mode' and 'Display Mode' to the channel box in Maya
- Fixes a Maya camera settings translation bug when rendering anamorphic images in the Redshift RV
- Adds C4D support for per-instance user-data
- Adds experimental Auto-Optimize Node option to the C4D GraphEditor
- Adds C4D support for automatic node coloring in the ShaderGraph
- Fixes a C4D crash during IPR under certain conditions
- Fixes a case where the C4D IPR would not detect scene changes under certain conditions
- Fixes a C4D issue in the interpretation of texture tags with missing materials references
- Fixes a C4D issue where plugin windows sometimes operated incorrectly when unfolded
- Adds an option to Houdini in the custom AOVs to set the EXR file or layer data type
- Lack of valid GPUs for rendering is now reported to the GUI in Houdini
- Adds Houdini viewport support for the Material, SSS, Skin and CarPaint VOPs main parameters
- Adds Houdini viewport support for the Incandescent and Hair VOPs main parameters
- Adds an option to disable Redshift errors/warnings reporting to the ROP node in Houdini
- Fixes a Houdini SyntaxWarning message reported to the console by the RSRenderView pane
- Fixes a Houdini crash after clicking the RSRenderView pane render region button with IPR stopped
- Fixes a Houdini RSRenderView crash clicking the start button after toggling the render region
- Fixes a crash in the Houdini RSRenderView pane on scene reload after changing the current frame

- Fixes a RenderView bug where IPR would refresh region when panning
- Fixes a bug that could cause a crash when generating custom AOVs with default shaders
- Fixes a bug that could cause a crash when generating volume fog AOVs
- Fixes a bug that caused excessive ray memory usage and obscure GPU crashes
- Fixes EXR autocrop not working on exported full-scene proxies rendered with redshiftCmdLine
- The texture processor can now handle bad numbers (infinite etc) in dome light textures
- Fixes a bug that caused inconsistent results for 'opaque' textured single scattering materials
- Fixes a bug that knocked out environment GI for matte objects
- Matte objects now have an option to ignore shadows from other mattes

Redshift is available for Max 2013 to 2018 and costs $500. A demo version is available here.


New Plugin: Utilities

This plugin helps you to prepare your 3D model to use in MR Builder on Microsoft HoloLens and get a full experience while working with your model. You can get inside your 3D model (see it in 1:1 scale), work with layouts (hide them, highlight or make transparent), and create viewpoints so you can travel through your model without any gestures, simply using the voice command 'Next point'.

- Adds Plastic and Metal materials
- Adds a Blend material to blend up to 10 materials together
- Adds a log window
- The output amount parameter is now treated as exposure for light-emitting environments

Plugin Update: Utilities

Changes for v1.2.6 are:
- Fixes a bug where Navisworks crashed when leaving planned task dates empty and trying to export
- Adds support for Actual task dates these take priority over Planned task dates
- TimelinerSet script no longer uses the Arnold Mix Shader, it now uses the Blend material

NaviSet Transfer is available for Max 2016 to 2018 and normally costs $20. At the moment you can get a license for $10.

Plugin Updates: Felix Joleanes plugins recompiled for Max 2017 and 2018

I only just discovered that Felix Joleanes has released the source code for his Animatable Pivot and IKFK Solver plugins. I've recompiled them for Max 2017 and 2018, you can download them here:

Plugin Update: Utilities

Changes for v8.6.18 are:
- Fixes an issue when using the web server and/or http REST APIs to download the chunks details
- Fixes an issue when using HTTPS in a multithread context

New Plugin: Utilities

NewView VR allows you to view your scenes in real time with the Oculus Rift headset, and also offers screen mirroring to window to show others what is the viewer is seeing. It also has independent keyboard navigation, so VR Camera panning is possible along independent walkthroughs for the viewer, and viewport projections mirror the current MAX scenes in realtime, including during animation playback.

NewView VR is available for Max 2015 to 2018 and costs $75. A demo version is available here.

Site News: Calling all freeware plugin developers

If you are a plugin developer with source code for plugins that you don't develop anymore, it would be great if you could get in touch with me. I would be glad to recompile as many old plugins as possible to stop them from disappearing for ever. Just mail me to let me know what sort of stuff you've got.

On a side note, this is how the Messiah:studio plugins got recompiled for Max 9 to 2012, as well as all of the Sisyphus plugins, so it's worth sending stuff my way :o)
