Plugin Update: Utilities

New features for v5.51 are:
- Catalogue printing tool (replaces the old printing module)
- Batch command processing
- Send email feature which includes resize and image conversion
- WIA image import to get images from a digital camera or scanner
- TWAIN import to retrieve images from a TWAIN device
- Custom thumbnails sort order
- Split/merge file feature
- New features in 2D and 3D viewers

Changes for v1.02 are:
- Fixes the Vertex Painter so that it uses the vertex colors that are passed into it instead of clearing them.

Plugin Update: MAXScript Extensions

Changes for v10.0 are:
- Added IsActiveViewportEnabled, PlaySound, StopSound
- Added access to controller 'keyable' properties via ControllerSupportsKeyableProp, IsControllerKeyablePropOn, and SetControllerKeyableProp

New Plugin: Import / Export

Panda DX Exporter gives Max users the ability to export to .X files with as much information as possible about the objects in a scene. Because it uses the Max internal structures it can retrieve all the information available and is not limited by the export to a 3DS file.

Supported features include:
- Mesh Vertices
- Mesh Normals (optimized list)
- Mesh Material List
- Mesh Texture Coordinates
- Mesh Faces
- Vertex Colours - if they are set in Max
- Materials (uses [Standard] Max diffuse map as DX texture map)
- Material Textures - bitmap conversions to .bmp, .jpg, .png and .tga!
- Text/Binary Mode/Compressed X file
- X File Frames - with full hierarchy

Plugin News: Materials

The Max CgFX plugin allows artists to author and visualize content in Max 5 using advanced hardware rendering and the Cg high level language. Accessible from the Viewport Manager located within the Max Material Editor, DirectX users gain a custom, intuitive GUI featuring real-time effects with sliders and other artist-friendly interfaces.

This plugin for Max 5 includes:
- Max 5 plugin .dlm
- CgFX connection editor
- Example shader files in .fx format with accompanying .dds textures

New Plugin: Import / Export

This BETA Producer tool is intended to allow the user to export 3D Studio Max objects files in the .LVO object file format for use with Oozic Producer 2.5.

Note: This BETA application is released AS IS. It will not be supported in any way by, Creative Labs, Inc., or Creative Technologies LTD.

New Plugin: Import / Export

This is basically an extended ASE exporter for Max 4. It mainly supports all the features ASE supports... the author has just made some additions/changes, that make life easier:

- Local Transform Matrices and Vertices
- Skinning
- Physique (Biped 3.2)
- Bones, Biped-Bones
- Target Nodes
- Light color animation
- Visibility animation
- Camera FOV animation
- Visibility information

Biped / Physique export only works with Character Studio 3.2 at the moment!

New Plugin: Import / Export

This plugin enables data created with Max 4 to be exported as *.BAC (model) data and *.TRA (action) data. The MceWebConv.exe converter enables *.BAC (model) data and *.TRA (action) data to be converted into the formats compatible with the Mascot Capsule Engine/Web Edition. The Mascot Capsule Engine is software that renders 3D objects in real-time on a PC desktop, Web page, or a display screen of an embedded device, portable game unit or cellular handset.

New Plugin: Global Utilities

This plugin is designed to detect corrupt Max files at the time they are saved. Under normal conditions, you should not notice any changes to Max. However if the plugin detects a corrupted max file has been saved, you will be notified with an error message prompting you to resave the file. At that point, try and see if you can Save As as different file. NOTE: This plugin does not check autobak files.

This plugin is currently beta. Use at your own risk. We are not aware of any problems at this time. If you should run in to any problems, please report them.

New Plugin: Import / Export

ADG Exporter 5.0 enables file export from Max 4 to the ADG File Format for WEB Publishing (Albatross Design Group, Inc. File Format, Copyright 1999-2000.) ADG Exporter 5.0 has a built-in ADG Viewer 4.0 for fast viewing of 3D scenes in ADG File Format.

The plugin is free for non-commercial use only! Commercial users can purchase a license for $249. You can find more information here.

New Plugin: Import / Export

AXELpublisher lets users take content created in Max, add basic interactions, hyperlinks and text, and publish directly to the web. With AXELpublisher, Max users can generate both QuickTime and AXEL streams and instantly publish to the web, in a scripting-free environment.

AXELpublisher is available for Max 3 to 5 and costs $69. Registered users of AXELedge can download the plugin for free.

Changes for v1.09.02g are:

Plugin News: Digimation offers and bundles...

Digimation, Inc. have got a number of offers running until the end of the year. The plugin discounts can be found here, and include Shag:Fur, Clay Studio, Ventriloquist, SpeedTree and Scene Explorer.

New Plugin: Materials

This texture plugin draws a graph of its input over time across texture space. Use it for polygraphs, seismographs, animated presentations, oscilloscopes, robots' mouths, and so on.

Changes for v1.5a are:
- Added support for conversion of MorphTargets to XSI ShapeKeys
- Fixed a bug with UV clusters when procedural shader were used on Max materials
- Fixed annoying memory overrun bug that caused random crashes
- Added batch conversion
- Added cancel key (ESC) :-)

Version 1.5 of the dotXSI4Max plugin was tested with Max 5 *only* and MAY NOT WORK WITH VERSION 4, 4.25 etc.

Plugin Update: Modelling

Changes for v1.2 are:
- Merge / Sew surfaces into solids
- Extrude, Revolve, Skin, Sweep with open loops to create complex surfaces
- Deletion of Faces to enable Surface Trimming
- Automatically remove excess faces when combining surfaces with solids
- Extract Selected Faces into BrepObjects or NURBS
- Extract Selected Faces / Edges into Curves
- Flipping the normals of selected faces in a shell
