New Plugin: Utilities

Changes from v3.3: New Smooth Color option for XYZ, W and Vertex Color colorization schemes, Wrap Around option now wraps around at all of the edges (not only the left edge), a bug fix in colorization by Face Area option, works in Max 4 only.


New Plugin: Controllers

This is a straight recompile for Max 4, no changes at all.


New Plugin: Import / Export

Exports skeletal animated meshes from Max for the Fly3D game engine. This plugin is part of the Fly3D SDK v2.

Exports meshes from Max to the Fly3d format (*.f3d) for the Fly3D game engine. This plugin is part of the Fly3D SDK v2.


Plugin Update: MAXScript Extensions

Changes for v2.09 are: fixed MultiListBox for when all items are deselected, fixed qsort so it can handle empty arrays without complaint.


New Plugin: Materials

This is a straight recompile for Max 4, no changes at all.

Changes for v1.25.2001 are: Added 'Clamp' option.


New Plugin: Modifiers

This is an enhanced version of the Max 4 Point Cache modifier. New features include: Adjustable playback ranges and a playback graph, Nth frame sampling, adjustable strength in Absolute mode, easily create/delete caches via the UI, filenames can be edited without browsing, error message bugfix, general bugfixes.


Site News: The Max 4 database opens!

Welcome to the new Max 4 freeware plugin database. Let's hope for as many plugins as we got for Max 3 (at the moment, there are 424 plugins in the Max 3 database, 347 plugins in the Max 2 database, and 203 plugins in the Max 1 database) It should be quite busy here in the next few months!.

The first plugin for Max 4 has just been entered into the database. I'm sure there will be more joining it in the next few weeks. The Max 4 database is here.

Site News: Max 4 is shipping!

The new Max 4 pages and database are all ready to go, it's just that at the moment there aren't any plugins in the database. If you know of any plugins that come out and aren't already in the Max 4 database, please send me a mail and let me know. Thanks, Dave.


Plugin Update: Renderers

Changes for v1.1 Beta 3 are: Redesign of the Luminaire System utility to make it easier to add new Global Illumination Methods, added the Caustic Global Illumination Method which uses photon maps to render caustics (this is still very new and incomplete, so use it at your own risk!), fixed the problems with the Lum. Advanced material, specifically with the local meshing options, included a sample scene (magnify.max) to demonstrate caustics. The scene is already set up, so you should be able to just render it.


Plugin Update: Import / Export

Changes for v1.3.2 include: Improved rendering of bezier segments, post-render effects are now always executed through VideoPost, multiblend material fixed, support for composite material added, and much more. For more information go here.


Plugin Update: Renderers

Changes for v0.0.1b are: improved depth of field including bokeh effects, better antialiasing of extremely bright objects, reflections, etc., new pre-filtering exposure controls, alpha channel support.


Plugin Update: Modifiers

Changes for v2.51 are: A few bug-fixes... Crash when an object with SimClothMod is cloned, crash when a name is entered in the edit box in Vertex subobject without a selected group, ALT+click did not work in subobject mode, some bugs in the implementation of parameter blocks, when in subobject mode, selecting again Vertex subobject from the drop-down list caused replication of roll-ups, when used with Shag:Hair, SimCloth reported irrelevant intersections.


Plugin Update: Renderers

Changes for v1.1 Beta 2 are: Ambient light should work correctly with lightmaps, most of the MAXScript functions have been put back in, added the Radiance PIC image exporter (This lets you save HDRI (high dynamic range image) bitmaps from Max), fixed a problem with rendering quadrangle faces in the radiosity solution.

Plugin Update: Materials

This is the English version of the MooDee shader, which the author kindly threw together due to the problems mentioned below. This has controls for everything, and is very useful for subtle color correction. Thanks to MooDee for doing an English version.


New Plugin: Materials

This plugin provides you a new shader model that offers a large amount of control over specularity, and the shading in general. Unfortunately, it can't be used very well in non-Japanese versions of Max, and not all controls are accessible.


Plugin Update: Renderers

Changes for v1.1 Beta 2 are: Many of the problems with quad faces has been resolved, so they are enabled by default, introduction of the Lum. Advanced material, the Lum. Material Converter has been redesigned to work exclusively with the Lum. Advanced material, the Lum. Area Light Converter now works properly, caustics have been improved.


New Plugin: Render Effects

This Render Effect plugin provides the ability to adjust the saturation level of the image and optionally specify the saturation level of objects based on their G-Buffer ID.


Plugin Update: Renderers

Changes for v1.1 Beta 1 are: Luminaire is now able to automatically convert Max triangle-based meshes into quad meshes for radiosity calculations, the mathematics for the radiosity calculations has been greatly improved, UI has been relabeled, the default ray trace acceleration method has been changed from Uniform Grid to BSP Tree, all extended tools are now integrated in the standard plugin, viewport display for Photometric Lights and Diffuse Lights has been fixed, and much more.

Allows export and import to Marlin, a program for creating 3D content for the Web.

This plugin allows users to export 3D models and animations to a custom format that is used by the Armadillo Terrain Editor and Motocross Madness 2.
